Miss Kate Cuttables and Roller Skates

Hi, I'm here to show you a very quick but fun card for any occasion. I actually used these cards for an invitation to a roller skating party but you can use it for anything. A fun birthday card for a child, a "let's roll" card to invite someone to a night out, a memory card for when you used to go roller skating, or just a fun card to say hi to a active person!

Before we get into the card instructions, don't forget to "roll" over to Miss Kate Cuttables for their daily freebie!!

First off, buy your set of skates! You can make male or female skates! I cut the female ones out with my Silhouette Cameo 3. I just layered all the pieces together and glued them with craft glue. Nothing special or hard to do.

I just did a simple card base of pink with some glitter paper to mimic the "disco balls" we used to skate too in the old days and I see they still use them today!!

I taped the back skate down with tape and used some foam adhesive to pop up the top skate to add some layers and to add movement I tilted the skate a bit to look like it is in motion.

I added some tiny decorative dots in the corner and this card is done!!

Joy Clair and Mother's Day

My post today is an EASY Mother's day card using Joy Clair's "Hello Sentiments" stamp set.

We are having a special MOTHER'S DAY EVENT over at Joy Clair's Blog so make sure you check out lots of other neat ideas for Mother's day cards and more!

As for my card, you can whip this up in just a few minutes. It is great when you don't have a lot of free time to make something for your mom but you want to give her something special.

All you need is a punch or die cut machine to cut out some butterflies in different colored card stock. I used a punch I had from Martha Stewart but you can cut from your Silhouette or Cricut. Just cut out 5 butterflies and set aside.

I used Joy Clair's "Hello Sentiments" stamp set and used the "happy" and the "Mother's Day" stamps to stamp my sentiment at the bottom of the A2 card with black ink.  I used my MISTI to get my letters straight.
 

I glued the butterflies around the message and bent up the wings and I was done. To add more interest, I used a corner rounder to round the corners of my card. That's it!

I hope you give it a try! You can also do this with other die cuts for other holidays: flowers, ghosts, birds, crows, candy corn, pumpkins, snowflakes, ornaments.....you get the idea.

Joy Clair Challenge

Today I am sharing my interpretation of the Joy Clair Challenge for February 2018. Check out the images below. What does it "SAY" to you?? Below is my take on these pics.

I used my favorite new set from Joy Clair called "Best Buds". Not only do I love all the little critters I love all the wonderful sayings! Check out all the designers ideas and we hope you post one of your own creations!

I am not writing up a tutorial on this one. It is pretty straight forward. I used a Sizzix card making die to make the card and also the mat for my card. I used a flower die for my flowers and colored my image with Copics.

You, Me and Penguin make 3!

Hi! Let's make a fun winter card with Miss Kate Cuttables Penguins.

Now back to my card, I used the adorable penguin from the Penguin Set.

I made both penguins since I was cutting anyway. This way I have one ready to go for my next project! (I also cut two more penguins from Penguins Set 1)

Now on to the Project!

 

Purchase your files, unzip them and upload them to your favorite cutting program. I used Silhouette Designer Edition for my Cameo 3. I laid out my penguins and sized them to the size I wanted them to be. Mine are 4 inches high. You can make them any size, that is the great thing about digital images. You are not limited to one size like with metal dies. I made a 5x7 inch card so I made him larger then usual. As I stated above I also cut the second set of penguins since the paper colors were all the same, the only thing different on each were their scarves. I then assembled all 4 penguins at the same time so I have them ready to go for my next projects.

For this card I used an old 12x12 paper pad from Michaels. It is made for scrapbooking but lately I am doing more cards then pages so I decided to adapt some of the elements for my card. I picked my papers and then decided to use the word page for my sentiments.  Below is a pic of my scrapbook paper that I cut apart for my card. I like to use all of the pad when I can. These types of pages are hard to scrapbook with but they are great for card making!

I cut out the sayings I wanted to use and backed them on black paper with a tiny border. I also cut my background paper to 5x7 inch (red dot paper) and mounted that on my card base. I cut a 3.25x4 inch paper for the middle box and also backed it with black paper. (blue polka dot paper)
I laid my design out and put the words where I wanted them and went back and glued them down. I used foam dots on my penguin so he stands out a bit. Lastly, I added some Wink of Stella pen to the scarf and white dots with my white gel pen.

Miss Kate Cuttables Guest Design Team

Hi! This is Jenny Fruchey from Jen's Crafty Place as your Guest Designer today! I can't wait to share my Halloween card with all of you!

This adorable die cut is from Miss Kate Cuttables Witch in Cauldron. This is a larger card size then the normal A2 (4.25 x 5.5). I made this card 8.5 x 5.5 so I can make the design larger. You can cut the witch in cauldron any size you would like to match your card size. That is the great thing about cutting these designs with your own cutter.



Now let's make the card!

Gather your supplies:

Purple cardstock base 8.5 x 11 inch
Black cardstock : 8.25x 5.25 and 4.25 x 5.25 inch
Purple pattern paper: 8.125 x 5.125 inch
Orange pattern paper: 4 x 5 inch
Scrap white cardstock for Sentiment
Black in Memento for Sentiment
Miss Kate's Witch in Cauldron cut from cutting machine finished size: 5.25 inch
(Scrap paper: two shades of green, two shades of orange, 2 shades grey, black, 3 shades of purple)
Rubber stamp with Halloween saying: Toil & Trouble from tailored expressions used now retired
Layered dies to cut saying: Sizzix Labels Fancy #4 the

Faux Enamel Dots: Made by Me
Foam Squares

Make your Witch in Cauldron from your Miss Kate Cuttables file. Use scrap papers to cut each layer and assemble with clear glue. Make the die cut fit the card you have decided to make. If making the size I did, assemble her to 5.25 inch total size. Add some sparkle pen to the bubbles and all parts of the insides of the cauldron. I do like sparkle so I added some to the bows on her shoes too!

Next, fold your 8.5 x 11 inch piece of purple cardstock in half for the card base and set aside.  Stamp your sentiment on white cardstock and cut with your favorite shape die. I used Sizzix Labels Fancy #4. Cut out a shadow layer, I used black with the same die set.

Cut your black mats, purple pattern paper and orange pattern paper to the sizes above. Adhere with tape or glue on the purple card base. Add the die cut and the sentiment with foam squares, add faux enamel dots and you are done!

Crafter's Companion Illustrator Alcohol Markers

This card is a fun one to create and really fast. Take any image. I used a retired image from Crafter's Companion. Stamp it on your favorite cardstock and color it with your favorite medium. I used Crafter's Companion's Illustrator Alcohol Markers for my design. I cut the circle with my favorite stitched circle die and mounted it off set on my card. I cut off the part sticking off the paper for a different look. I mounted 2 different colored pattern papers for my base. I used scrap papers from my paper stash. Added a bow and I was done! It is a clean and simple card with a lot of POP!

Crafter's Companion Classic Floral Frame Die

One Die, Three Looks

This floral frame die is from Crafter's Companion. It can be used many ways. You can just die cut and use as is, with little or no embellishments, like the one above. I just added a few rhinestones and a bow with a die cut saying and this card is ready to go!

This card is using the same die but I added some ink to the details to bring out the floral part of the die. I added some more rhinestones and a lighter bow with die cut and this card is done.

This last card is so glittery it doesn't need any rhinestones. (I added a few because I love bling!) I used glitter card stock which I popped up on pop dots over some floral paper. Added a sentiment and bow and this card is DONE! So fancy and ready that special event like anniversary, wedding or just a special card for a loved one.

This die can also be cut apart for the frame to be used separately. Take a look at your dies and see other uses for them other then their intended purposes. Be creative! That is how you get your cards to be originals!

Crafter's Companion Day of the Dead stamps

This quick and easy card is made from a new stamp set by Sheena Douglas. It's called Butterfly Rose from Crafter's Companion. I used Colorista colored pencils from Crafter's Companion to color my image. After I cut out the butterfly I curved the wings for some added dimension. For some added bling, I used some scrap gold thread-like material for under the butterfly. Just glue it on before you add the butterfly. I used some vellum for the lacy square that I die cut with a nestability die called lacy square. The back white cardstock panel is embossed with a new 3D embossing folder by We Are Memory Keepers. I mounted them all on a black piece of cardstock and then attached it all on a square 5x5 card base.

Snow Fun Side Step Card

Hi! I'm here to make a fast and most importantly adorable snowman card!



I used the snowman from Snow Fun Layout at Paper Crafting World to make this side step card. Let's get started!

Cut out the snowman from the Snow Fun Layout set  at the size it opens up in your program. It is a little over 5 inches assembled. Use any colors you would like for your little man. I used purples for his scarf and hat. My papers are all from Recollections. (To add more interest use patterned papers!) Next, cut 4 snowflakes from the same file. Cut one a bit larger than the others for the message.

For the side step card: I used a Sizzix die but you can also use a silhouette design or even free hand one. Use paper that coordinates with your snowman's hat and scarf.



After you have all your pieces cut it is time to ink the edges. This is not mandatory but it does add more depth to the card. I used Dew Drop inks and a sponge dauber to ink around the edges of my pieces for my snowman. I used some light pink on his cheeks to make him blush. You can also do the snowflakes if you would like. Just be careful the sponging may bend the fragile cuts.

Now time to assemble the snowman. If you aren't mailing the card you could use dimensional squares to pop out his features. I needed my card to be flat so I just used a tape runner. I also added some Wink of Stella to my snow bank behind my little fella and the snowflakes. You can't see in the pictures very well but they are really sparkly!

I stamped a "hello friend" saying in a 3/4 inch circle punch, inked the edges blue and added a little bling" to make it shine! I popped that in the center of the large snowflake and attached it behind the snowman's head. You can stamp any greeting to customize your card. (Happy Birthday, Thinking of You, Think Snow to name a few.) I even added some "bling" to the centers of my snowflakes. You can add as much or as little "bling" as you like. Make it your own creation by adding more embellishments. Puffy paint for snow is fun. How about adding some Stickles to the snowflakes?

Paper Crafting World's Elf on a Shelf

My elf came off the shelf and is just popping in to say, Merry Christmas! I used the Paper Crafting World's Elf on the Shelf Boy Cut File, for this easy Christmas card. I know it is almost Christmas but this is easy enough to make in a rush.

I cut him out, inked the edges with Dew Drops ink pads and assembled him. I cut a circle with a sizzix scallop circle die and layered that over red dot scrapbook paper. I added that over a plaid piece of scrapbook paper and adhered it to a red A2 card.

To finish the card off, add embellishments you have in your stash. I had some red faux enamel dots I used as berries (I also used a yellow dot for a button) and hand cut some green paper for some holly leaves. I added them in the corners and a baby bow under the banner. The baby bow is from Paper Smooches. If you don't have a bow die, use ribbon to tie a bow and glue on with glue dots, add a banner stamped with your favorite holiday greeting and you are done! (You can use a die to cut the banner, a cut file of a banner or free hand one.)

My Scrap Chick Easter Card

I purchased this file from My Scrap Chick. It was a lot to put together but the end result was amazing! I made 4 of these at one time. It took me 3 days to complete them! I cut them all out one evening. The next evening I spent inking and decorating all the tiny pieces and the third evening I put everything together. I love the trifold card  design and all the cute faces! I did make the card a bit larger then the original file. I accomplished that in my silhouette design edition software for my cameo. The embossing folders I used for each of the backgrounds were Darice.

Penny Black

This Penny Black stamp set is great for all occasions. I water colored the image and used my nestabilities dies to cut the mats out. I used a faux water color paper for the background and added some flowers I purchased at Michale's. The other little goodies I purchased at my local dollar store. For the finishing touch, I used glossy accents on the balloons.

Getting Ready

Getting Ready is another great stamp by Lili of the Valley. This was colored on watercolor paper using Tim Holtz distress ink markers. You can't see it in the picture but I used wink of stella on the dress. It adds a lot of sparkle but it isn't distracting like glitter. When I am tight on time, I like to make simple cards like this one. I precolor the images to speed things up even more. 

Basic Copic Coloring

This cutie is a Magnolia stamp. The card was a simple copic coloring class I held. We used only a few markers with the tip to tip technique to get different variations of colors. You don't have to be a professional to get artist looking results with copics.

Easter Bunny Pop Up

People love to receive pop up cards. They are as fun to make as they are to receive. I made this for a family member for Easter. I made the front cover (hop, hop, hop) from a file the Silhouette design store. The die on the bottom is from Spellbinders Card Creator. The paper was from my paper stash.

This is the inside of my pop up card. I used Karen Burniston's lots of pops die. It is my "go to die" when I am making pop up cards. The fancy labels are from sizzix and the cute bunny is from kadoodlebug. I used a neat grass die from Lawn Fawn.

Diet Joke

I made this pop up card for a family member as a joke. She loved it! I used Karen Burniston's Lots of Pops die. The stamp is from Art Impressions. I colored it with copics using basic shading. The faux m&m's are melted perler beads. The cute paper is from DCWV Sweet Stack.

Birthday Girl

This card was made from another Lili of the Valley stamp. For this card I chose to use distress inks to watercolor the image on watercolor paper. The solid papers are from my Michael's Recollections paper pack, the yellow stripe paper is from my stash and the pink, orange and yellow stripe paper is from Paper Adventures called Matchmakers by Jill. I made the bow out of some organza ribbon I had and I added some sparkle with my clear wink of stella pen. The mini "happy b-day" word stamp is from my stamp stash to add some texture I poked holes with a T pin.

These cards are great basic card sketches. Try making one with your own stamped images and papers!

Die Cut Boy Card

I was playing around with some die cut files and made this cute Valentine's Day card for my son. I used a die cut for the main image. The background is pattern paper from Michael's as well as the card stock. I added a grosgrain ribbon and a tiny tag with some bling and I was done.

Spooky Spectrum Noir Card

This card is highlighting the Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. 

This is a simple card when you take it step by step.

Stamp a Halloween image on paper. Color image with Spectrum Noir markers. For the background, use makers to make tiny dots, then use blender pen over dots to make dots spread. Make a A2 standard card base out of DCWV the jewel colors pack. I used purple. The paper pack I used was from Michael's Midnight Magic 6x6 pack.

 I used a sheet for the background paper and inside the Magic Scrap slide. Wrap twine around the slide and then attach a bow. Cut a strip of DCWV paper and attach over background paper.  Punch out tiny bats with Studio G punch (Michael's) and attach to inside of slide.

 I also use Wink of Stella pen to add a bit of sparkle to mini bats. I used the Sizzix bat die to cut out a medium size bat, added glue then black glitter (Michael's dollar bin) to add some sparkle. I made a banner out of some scrap paper leftover from making card base. I stamped the word "spooky" from a stamp set purchased at Michael's. I do not have the package so I do not know the exact name of the set. Use any word stamp you have or write your own words with a sharpie marker.  I added a little more embellishment to the banner to finish off the card. The flowers were from Recollections Floral Embellishments. They have been discontinued but use any flowers you may have. Bling was added to the centers and the card front was complete.
