Mardi Gras and Miss Kate Cuttables

Today I have a fun decoration for Mardi Gras!! It is the monthly challenge for Miss Kate Cuttables. I have to admit, this one was a thinker!! Miss Kate Cuttables currently does not have a Mardi Gras selection but taking some items from a few sets I came up with this goodie; I hope you like it!!

This hat is cut from the "Windy Snowman" file. Make your hat as large or small as you like. I made the image of the hat fit on a 12 x12 sheet of purple cardstock. I cut the hat band out of green cardstock and then moved on to the embellishments.

I couldn't find a fleur de lis so I used a "Flourish Accent". I cut it out of yellow cardstock and then used some glue to spread over the item and then added some gold glitter. This is messy but Ilove the look and it adds the shinny element that makes this decor scream, MARDI GRAS!!

I did some research into Mardi Gras and found a strong tie with skull and bones. So, I incorporated a fun "Skull and Crossbones" set that I thought was cute.  I cut them out of some bone cardstock and added some shadows with some grey and black to make it complete.

Cutting the feathers was a challenge because Miss Kate has many to choose from. I finally decided on this "Feather Set". I loved the two tones in them and the white tops!! I used various shades of purple, yellow and green cardstock. I also cut the beads from "Pile of Presents-Boy" using the same colors as the feathers.  I took the balloons middle layer to make my "beads". You can chose to use the white highlights if you want some added layers. I chose not to.

I then glued all my embellishments to my main hat piece and back the whole thing with some strong cardboard and added a hanger and I was finished!!

Joy Clair's Challenge: Mardi Gras

Today's post is a Challenge from Joy Clair. The challenge is Mardi Gras! I decided to use the colors Yellow, Green and Purple to make my card. Let me know what you think!

The stamp is from Joy Clair "Scriptures of Love". I love all the stamps in this set. They are great for inspiration cards as well as Bible Journaling. (Check out my post on Bible Journaling for info on how to start!) The yellow base is cut from a svg file I had. I used my Silhouette Cameo 3 to cut it out. When I don't have a die cut for my backgrounds I love to use svgs. I made the flowers from the Cuttlebug dies to make the 3D rolled flowers. Any 3D rolled flowers will work. You can use svgs too! The leaf die is from Creative Expressions, CED1483. I just put them all together to make my card.

Penny Black

This Penny Black stamp set is great for all occasions. I water colored the image and used my nestabilities dies to cut the mats out. I used a faux water color paper for the background and added some flowers I purchased at Michale's. The other little goodies I purchased at my local dollar store. For the finishing touch, I used glossy accents on the balloons.

Scrapbook Canvas

I had so much fun making my business card canvas that I decided to make a scrapbook canvas also. I had a picture in it, but didn't want my family photo all over the net. I am sure you weren't interested in that photo anyway, just the canvas! I purchased all the supplies at Michael's. There is crumpled card stock, some inking, tearing, edge punching and of course card stock and BLING!! I do not have step by step instructions because I did this canvas a while ago but I can answer any questions you may have if you would like to create one. Drop me a line.

New Goodies

Hi All!

I just purchased a great magazine at Crafter's Companion; as a bonus they included a ton of goodies to make the cards inside. I used the images in the magazine to create a layered card (below). Dimensional tape was used under cut pieces to create the 3D main image. I used printed paper by making memories. The main image was from the Crafter's Companion magazine (as stated above). The punches used are from Michaels. They are Martha Stewart's Punch Around the Page snowflake collection. The ribbon was from Morex Corp. I am sorry I don't know where that was purchased. I made the card on a 6x6 base. I have never made a square card before but I may do more. It gave me a lot of space to place my design and left me more room for embellishments.
