Joy Clair and Therm-O-Web

I am participating in a Joy Clair Stamps and Therm-O-Web collaboration.

I am featuring a new release of Joy Clair Stamps "Christmas Lights". It is a cool background stamp with tiny light bulbs on a string.

I decided to use some of the Deco Foil by Therm-O-Web and foil all my bulbs. I love the shine the foil brings to my projects! I used the Rainbow Foil to achieve all the colored bulbs with only purchasing ONE foil pack.

I took an A2 card and stamped the "Christmas Lights" in black in on the front. I then used the Deco Foil Adhesive to color all the bulbs. I then let it dry for about an hour. The adhesive will be clear and tacky to the touch. Then the fun part begins!!

I took a tiny square of the Rainbow foil and used a section of color to place over the tacky bulb, shinny side UP. Rub gently to get the adhesive to grab hold of the foil and peel back the foil to reveal all the shinny goodness!!

I continued to move my foil around to different bulbs and shifting the foil to a different color on the tiny foil sheet until all my bulbs were covered. I then selected a large Deco Frame and peeled off the release paper to reveal the adhesive and place it on the front of my card. I found a die cut circle I owned that was the same size as the opening I wanted to make and used my Sizzix to cut out the hole.

I then used the previous Christmas release of Joy Clair stamp set, "3D Christmas Poinsettia" to stamp my "Merry Christmas" sentiment inside the card where it would show though the center opening on my card front.

(As a bonus, I took the decorative circle I cut out of the front and added it to the back of my card to jazz it up a bit. I also used a Deco Frame to make it stand out.)

I hope you try the new Deco Foils from Therm-O-Web. They come in some fabulous colors!! A word of caution:  Once you use the foil you may become addicted to it, like I did!!

Gingerbread Easel Card

Making an easel card is fun and easy! I used the adorable gingerbread people from the All Baked Out set over at Paper Crafting World. There are a lot of cute files included in this collection. I used the single man and woman. You can easily use the other designs such as the border people or the title on the base of this card.

Let's make a card!!

I used a die for the base of my card. It is from Sizzix. You can use any stand up bases you like. Silhouette has many in the design store and you can always cut one by hand too. Once you have your base cut from red card stock, decorate it with some patterned paper. I use Christmas papers from Recollections Sugar Plum pad. It was sold by Michael's a few years back but any papers will do.

Cut a white piece of card stock and stamp a greeting. I used a stamp from my stash. I used Stazon black ink and then antiqued the edges of the cut shape with some tea dye Distress Ink.

Cut the cute gingerbread people out your die cut machine. I used my Silhouette Cameo. I inked all the pieces with Distress Inks that matched my papers. I used all solid papers for these cuties. Assemble the folks. Decorate them if you would like with 3D elements to add interest. I added buttons made from melted Perler beads.

I cut the candies out from red and white card stock. I used a red permanent marker to add some extra lines to match my candy paper, this is optional. Add some Glossy Accents to the candy die cuts to add dimension. Let them dry before you attach them. I also added a dot of white acrylic paint with a tooth pick to their cheeks to finish off their faces.

As for the bottom "joyful" embellishment. I used a die from Sizzix. I cut it out three times and glued them together for dimension.

Glue on all your embellishments and you are done!! This card can be folded flat to mail and propped up to display!!

 

Lili of the Valley

This stamped image from lili of the valley is adorable. Actually, all their stamps are adorable! I chose, Feathered Friends, to watercolor. I used my new distress markers to watercolor this image. It is very easy to do and I love the results. I was in a water coloring mood one day so I sat down and painted a bunch of images. I like to have them ready so my card making sessions aren't so long doing the painting and card making at the same time. I do like to pull some papers to match my inks and then store the colored images and the papers in a plastic folder. Then when I am ready to make cards, I have the time consuming part done already.

Dustin Pike Reindeer Lights Card

I love making Christmas cards! I try each year to come up with new designs that I can mass produce. I want the card to be cute but I don't want to spend a lot of time on them since I have so many to make. This is an easy layout; it doesn't have a lot of elements but what is on the card makes it fun. The die cut bulbs were cut with various colors of paper but I added some sparkle with glitter glue. The main image came from Dustin Pike; it was colored with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.

I printed out a page of images on Spectrum Noir white cardstock and colored them all at the same time. Next I cut out all my patterned paper at the same time, as well as my border papers, then assembled them. The bow was added as a final touch. This layout is great for any Christmas stamp you may have; it does not have to be the same one I used. 

New Goodies

Hi All!

I just purchased a great magazine at Crafter's Companion; as a bonus they included a ton of goodies to make the cards inside. I used the images in the magazine to create a layered card (below). Dimensional tape was used under cut pieces to create the 3D main image. I used printed paper by making memories. The main image was from the Crafter's Companion magazine (as stated above). The punches used are from Michaels. They are Martha Stewart's Punch Around the Page snowflake collection. The ribbon was from Morex Corp. I am sorry I don't know where that was purchased. I made the card on a 6x6 base. I have never made a square card before but I may do more. It gave me a lot of space to place my design and left me more room for embellishments.
