Joy Clair Stamps and a Shaker Tag

This is my last post for Joy Clair Stamps. I have enjoyed my time on the Design Team for 2018. Thank you, Joy Clair,  for having me on the team and I will miss all of you!! Now on to my project.....



I used the stamp set called, "New Year New Me". I stamped the numbers on some white cardstock and cut them out carefully to enclose them in my shaker. I cut out the "2019" two times. I set them aside until I was done building the tag. I hand cut a large tag shape from some scrap paper. When I got the shape and size just right, I cut it the shape out of a page protector. Make sure you cut through both pieces of plastic. I then used my Project Life hot knife to melt the edges together to form my shaker.



I then added my shaker pieces: glitter, sequins, and some confetti pieces in various colors. I used gold, silver, black and white as my color scheme and my cut out numbers.



Once my items were added, I used my hot knife to enclose the items with a hot line across the top. I then stamped the count down numbers with light grey on a small piece of cardstock and then stamped "Happy New Year" over them with some black ink. To add some extra "SHINE" I used some mirror paper to line my paper and enclosed it in the tag shape. I used my hot knife one more time to seal up the tag.



I used a hole punch to punch a hole in my tag and added some gold and black ribbon.



The shaker is now complete! You can add it to any item you would like to give to your New Year's hostess/host. I tied it on a metal tin of cookies or you can tie it on a bottle of wine. Don't forget to sign your shaker tag if you want to make it a one time use, sign the back of your silver tag. If you want it reusable, don't sign it!

Joy Clair Stamps and a Santa Christmas Card

Today's post is a Christmas card using the stamp set from Joy Clair Stamps called, "Holly Jolly Santa" .  (Check out the current release HERE.)



This is an easy card but has a WOW factor to the recipient. First stamp the images on some Copic friendly paper with Copic friendly ink. Then color the images with Copics. Cut around the images and set them aside.



Cut a 3D card from either Silhouette store or from Sizzix. Cut out the card, use the die to cut some red paper to mount on the front of the card. Use a smaller square to cut out a piece of decorative paper and place it in the middle of the card front. Use the stamp set and select the "Ho Ho Ho" stamp and stamp it 2 times on each side panel.



Mount the Santa, Elf and Toy bag on the front of the card with some adhesive foam dots and you are done! If you want to add some sparkle, use some Wink of Stella pen to add some sparkle on the images, I use it on the reds on my images.

Nativity cards with Miss Kate Cuttables

Happy Thanksgiving!! Today's post is going to be Christmas cards!! I decided on doing some easy cards that are easy to mass produce.

Before we get started, be sure to head over to Miss Kate Cuttables for your DAILY FREEBIE!

I purchased the "O Holy Night Nativity" set from Miss Kate Cuttables.  Even thought this set has a set of words underneath I decided to purchase this set. I want to show you that you can change your images with your scissors and no need to learn any fancy software.  Also if you notice the floor on my Nativity is curvy. That is not the feature I would like for these cards so I will show you what I did to fix it.

If I just left the design as is, you can see above the ground is curvy and the sky would show under my image. So I cut a small strip of black paper and adhered it to the bottom of my finished card. You really can't see it when you see the card in person. The black paper on black paper really is the perfect fix if you don't know how to fix the design in your cutting program.

Okay, on to the card background. I took some Lipstick Distress ink

and added it to the bottom of my card front, then in order went up to the sky with Concord Grape,

Chipped Sapphire

 and finished of with Black Soot.

I then watered down some white paint and flicked it on with a paint brush. 

The white paint resembles all the stars in the sky. I love this effect!!

This background looks great with all sorts of mediums, die cutting, stamping, painting and drawing to name a few.

As I stated before, I added a small strip of black paper to my card front to the bottom as my ground. I then decided to play with my die cuts a bit to make all my cards a bit different. Some I left as is,

on some I cut all the stars and people out so I just had the main event and the animals to show they were in a stable.

On this card I switched the people with the animals to have it going the other way.

My last set I just cut the stars out and left the other elements, as is.

After I got all the images glued down, I went back to Miss Kate Cuttables for some wording. I purchased "Christmas Phrases 2 Set" I love the selection of the words to make each of my cards special. There are more HERE.

Joy Clair Stamps New Release Blog Hop

It's New Release Blog Hop Day!!

I am excited with this new release from Joy Clair Stamps. I made my card for the hop with 2 sets from the release. I used "Vintage Ornaments" and "Christmas Lights". I love both of these sets for the versatility.

I stamped the branch from "Vintage Ornaments" with my Tombow water color markers onto water color paper. I then moved my stamp and only colored a few branches of the stamp to extend my branch a bit more.

I then used some water to bleed out the branches a bit. After I stamped my ornament and then the hook that came in the set to hang my ornament. I love that little hook!! So cute! Next, I stamped my sentiment into the ornament. There are many sentiments and images you can stamp inside the bulb or use them separately. That is what  makes this set so versatile.

I used StazOn ink since it is water proof. I painted all elements with some water color paints. When it was dry, I cut out a mask of the ornament (stamping the ornament on sticky note paper and cutting it out to cover the image to protect from other techniques) and covered the ornament. I also ripped some scrap paper to cover my branches and then "FLICKED" some metallic silver, metallic gold and some black paint to form my background.

For the fun bulbs I used the "Christmas Lights" background stamp. I stamped the image on some card stock and added some Deco Foil adhesive to all the light bulbs and let it dry. Then I added some Deco Foil from the rainbow foil paper to make my lights shinny. (Click HERE to read more about this technique) I then cut out each light bulb to adhere to my Christmas tree that my ornament is hanging from. I glued them on with some white glue. Lastly, I matted my card front on some gold and then black card stock and mounted it on an A2 card base.

Joy Clair and Christmas in July

I am excited to get going on some Christmas cards!! Yep, time to start working on your Christmas cards so you won't be stressed out come December!!
This set has become one of my favorite Christmas sets! I think you will agree with me.
It is Joy Clair's, "3D Christmas Poinsettia".

I stamped the panel with some of the smaller poinsettias with some VersaFine Clair Nocturne. I colored them with Leisure Arts Premium Colored pencils. I did some shading with the light and dark color of each pencils. I cut the panel and mounted it on some black cardstock and set it aside to work on the card base.

I used a regular A2 card and cut another white panel 1/4 inch smaller for my card front. I positioned the panel on it without tape so I can see where to add my other panels and stamping.

Next, I stamped the large, medium and small poinsettia onto red cardstock and colored them with pencils to add shading. I fussy cut out each flower and layered them together. I bent the petals to make them more 3D and attached a brad to the center to keep them secure.

I then stamped the leaves on some green cardstock and also added some shading with colored pencils, cut them out and rolled them a bit for a more realistic look.

I added the flower to a square white cardstock panel and then mounted it onto a black mat. I set this on my card to see where I want to add my sentiment stamp.

I stamp my sentiment with VersaFine Clair Nocturne and then tie a red ribbon around the white panel. The white panel is added to the card base and then I add the other 2 panels with some foam adhesive.

To add a little bling, I added some jewels to the end of my "Joy" sentiment stamping.

If you are like me and you like lots of "BLING" add some glitter pen to your 3D flower and the poinsettia on the colored panel.

Miss Kate Cuttables and Christmas in July

 Today I have a Christmas in July project! It is never too early to start your Christmas card stash!

Before we start, don't forget to get your Freebie over at Miss Kate Cuttables.

I chose this cutie to do my card with. There are many snow globe images at Miss Kate Cuttables so choose one you like. Then cut out your design. I used my Cameo 3. I arranged my pieces on one mat to reduce the cutting time.

I took the main image of the snow globe and copied it and then welded it together to make the card base you see on the left.

I assembled the snowman and globe and glued it to the card base and I was done! It is an easy card to produce many for your Christmas card needs. The only thing I added was some glitter pen to the body to make it more "snow like". I also put a few orange lines on the nose for the carrot. Other then that, it is just cut, glue and you are done!

I hope you try making some snow globe cards for your Christmas card sending! They are quick and ADORABLE!! There will be a smile on the recipients face for sure!

Paper Crafting World's Elf on a Shelf

My elf came off the shelf and is just popping in to say, Merry Christmas! I used the Paper Crafting World's Elf on the Shelf Boy Cut File, for this easy Christmas card. I know it is almost Christmas but this is easy enough to make in a rush.

I cut him out, inked the edges with Dew Drops ink pads and assembled him. I cut a circle with a sizzix scallop circle die and layered that over red dot scrapbook paper. I added that over a plaid piece of scrapbook paper and adhered it to a red A2 card.

To finish the card off, add embellishments you have in your stash. I had some red faux enamel dots I used as berries (I also used a yellow dot for a button) and hand cut some green paper for some holly leaves. I added them in the corners and a baby bow under the banner. The baby bow is from Paper Smooches. If you don't have a bow die, use ribbon to tie a bow and glue on with glue dots, add a banner stamped with your favorite holiday greeting and you are done! (You can use a die to cut the banner, a cut file of a banner or free hand one.)

Gingerbread Easel Card

Making an easel card is fun and easy! I used the adorable gingerbread people from the All Baked Out set over at Paper Crafting World. There are a lot of cute files included in this collection. I used the single man and woman. You can easily use the other designs such as the border people or the title on the base of this card.

Let's make a card!!

I used a die for the base of my card. It is from Sizzix. You can use any stand up bases you like. Silhouette has many in the design store and you can always cut one by hand too. Once you have your base cut from red card stock, decorate it with some patterned paper. I use Christmas papers from Recollections Sugar Plum pad. It was sold by Michael's a few years back but any papers will do.

Cut a white piece of card stock and stamp a greeting. I used a stamp from my stash. I used Stazon black ink and then antiqued the edges of the cut shape with some tea dye Distress Ink.

Cut the cute gingerbread people out your die cut machine. I used my Silhouette Cameo. I inked all the pieces with Distress Inks that matched my papers. I used all solid papers for these cuties. Assemble the folks. Decorate them if you would like with 3D elements to add interest. I added buttons made from melted Perler beads.

I cut the candies out from red and white card stock. I used a red permanent marker to add some extra lines to match my candy paper, this is optional. Add some Glossy Accents to the candy die cuts to add dimension. Let them dry before you attach them. I also added a dot of white acrylic paint with a tooth pick to their cheeks to finish off their faces.

As for the bottom "joyful" embellishment. I used a die from Sizzix. I cut it out three times and glued them together for dimension.

Glue on all your embellishments and you are done!! This card can be folded flat to mail and propped up to display!!
