Joy Clair's "Living Water" and "Thankful and Blessed"

I used two new sets from the fall release, "Living Water" and "Thankful and Blessed".  These two sets have a lot of potential. They are great for fall, manly cards, reflection cards or scrapbooking and Bible journaling.  I decided to make a card that can be used for a male or for any fall event.



I stamped my images from "Living Water" onto some watercolor paper and then painted them with water and my Tombow markers.  I added water to the edges of my paper and tore them to add some texture.



After the paint dried, I cut around the deer image and tore the bottom to add texture to that embellishment.



I took some brown or natural colored paper and trimmed it down to 4 x 5.25 inch and ran it though my Sizzix Big Kick with a leaf embossing folder to add more texture and contribute to my fall theme. I added it to an A2 card-base with a black card front. I used glue to adhere the watercolor background to the leaf base, leaf base to the black cardstock and black cardstock to the card base. I used pop up adhesive dots to adhere the deer over my painted background to bring him to the foreground.  To finish off my card, I cut some pumpkin colored paper into a banner and stamped the word, "Grateful". I used the word stamp from the "Thankful and Blessed" stamp set. I added a button with some bakers twine to fill up the space and add some more interest.

Bible Journaling with Joy Clair's Praise the Lord and Refuel My Soul

Another Bible journaling entry.  I did two different kinds of pages this time. One I did water coloring on and the other I did a clean and simple (CAS) with Atyou Spica twinkling pens. I love the glitter these pens leave behind with the bright colors. You can also see though them so I decided to use them to highlight some of my words. I don't like to stamp or draw over my Bible verses, I like to read the words though my mediums. So finding these were a great addition to my Bible journaling tools.





For the first page I used the Joy Clair stamp set called, "Praise the Lord". Like I stated above, I made this a CAS page. I kept it simple. I colored all the wording and highlighted my important words with the Spica pens. I love the glitter look. I am not sure it shows up in the pictures but in person it is so glittery with TINY specs of shimmer. I also used StazOn ink to stamp my words so if I decided to use water color it wouldn't run.



For the second page I used "Refuel My Soul" by Joy Clair. I decided to do some water coloring. I primed my pages with clear Gesso so it wouldn't bleed though to the next page and let that dry. I always highlight the important passages with some kind of medium. I used my Bible highlighters. Next, I stamped all my images with StazOn and painted my images with Koi Water Colors. I also stamped the gas pump on the opposite page because I loved it and wanted to use it on my page somewhere but ran out of space on the page I was working on. I like to carry some of the images to both pages to keep the flow and tie the pages together.






I like to look at my Bible Journaling as my own mixed media mini projects. Each page I do something different and use a different medium. It all depends on what the reading is about and what my stamp set is. I hope you like my latest journal pages and learned something new to help you with your own Bible Journaling.

Fisher of Men by Joy Clair Stamps

I'm here for another Bible Journaling page with Joy Clair Stamps and my new journaling Bibles. I found out some interesting things that I would like to pass on to you new Bible Journalers.

First let me show you some of the new products I bought for Bible journaling. I purchased the New Testament Catholic Journaling Bible. This way I can journal the Old and the New Testament.

I also purchased some CLEAR Gesso to make my pages more adaptable to water. This way my watercolor and other liquid techniques won't bleed though to the back page. I also picked up some special highlighters specifically made for Bible Journaling. The highlighters are a gel so they go on smooth like lipstick but dry quickly. They are smear proof also and do not bleed though to the back page. I got the 8 pack but there are many other size packs and brands on the marker. I purchased mine though Amazon. Just search "Bible Journaling Highlighters". 

On to the project!

1. Highlight your passages you think are important. 2. Stamp your images you would like to showcase. (I did not do this step in the correct order. Learn from my mistakes. That is why you follow this blog, right?? I used the gesso first then I found it was hard to stamp my images clearly.) I used the new stamp set from Joy Clair, Fishers of Men. 3. Water down the clear gesso a bit and apply over your stamped image and your wordings, if you plan on doing techniques over the words. 4. Wait until it dries or dry with a heat gun. The page my wrinkle a bit. It will flatten out when the Book is closed or I heard you can iron the pages with a warm iron between some clean printer paper.

As you can see above, my page wrinkled just a bit but I wasn't too concerned about it. I applied the clear gesso to the left page. (If you did it correctly you should have the stamping under the clear gesso.) 6. I wanted a watery look so I used some Distress Inks for the blue, purple and turquoise. I just used an ink blender to blend the colors.

7. Paint the fish with different colors of orange and red watercolors. It is hard to see but there is shading on them.

8. Shaded the fish with blue watercolor and use a glitter pen to add some motion to the page by making wavy lines as water current. 9. You can add more detail by splattering some paint, I used blue, about the page to add some texture dots. 10. Time to doodle. I love to doodle so I used glitter pens to trace some of the netting, outline some of the wording and the hooks. I love the sparkle it adds to the page. (I also outlined the bubbles after I did step 11.) 11. Add in some 3D bubbles. I used some Pico Embellisher to accomplish this. The bubble dry 3D and have a iridescent shimmer to them.

Crafter's Companion Bebunni

A quick hello and fun card for you today. I colored the bunny with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. (Bunny: GG1, GG3 Envelope: AB1, AB3 Tag: MB1, Blender  Ears of bunny: AP1, AP2, PP2 Cheeks and Nose: PP2) To add texture to the bunny, I used some blender on a towel, blotted it on the colored bunny and let it dry.

I watercolored the background with Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens. (Blue Topaz and Emerald Green)
The Bebunni stamp set is also from Crafter's Companion. The set is called, "Sent With Love".
I hope you try watercoloring with the Sparkle Pens. (The sparkle remains but is subtle.)  The result is amazing!
